Tony Bloom
Canmore
Biography
Tony Bloom's career embodies remarkable versatility.
Initially a ceramicist, he now works in a variety of materials - copper, bronze,
steel, clay and concrete, often involving or implying movement: sound, water,
wind. his sculpture ranges from small, handheld objects to monumental
commissions, such as River Fragments for Calgary's Sun Life Plaza. Since the
1970's, his work has been exhibited throughout North America, Europe, and Japan,
and he has been the recipient of many national, provincial and civic awards.
The sculptor is a founder of Stonecrop Studios, Canmore (1974),
where he continues to create artworks that reflect his engagement with the
dynamics of mental and physical play.
