Biography

Tuktoyaktuk born and raised, Angus Cockney is recognized as one of the distinctive artists from the Arctic. His art is in collections around the world. He is a self-taught artist who works in marble, prints and multi-media. Angus is inspired by traditional and contemporary issues, and the tension between past and present is evident in his work.

From 1988 to 1997, Angus worked as a media specialist for the Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic Development, NWT. He is a former Canadian National cross-country ski champion and a Canada Winter Games Champion.
