Biography
Zelda Nelson was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She moved to Calgary in 1971, and then to Canmore in 1987. Her passionate interest in art and all forms of creativity led her to enroll in various art classes offered at the Banff Centre of Fine Arts and the University of Calgary. Zelda has participated in juried shows at the Whyte Museum in Banff, has frequently exhibited in F.C.A. shows as well as several art galleries in and around the Mountain Parks
Zelda paints outdoors, on location whenever possible. It is her desire to paint with passion and spontaneity. Her goal is to project feeling through her art whether it be with oils, watercolours or acrylics.
She became a member of the Canmore Artists and Artisans Guild in 1989. Her keen commitment led her to become the Vice President in 1995, President in 1996 and President again in 2001.
Zelda Nelson received her A.F.C.A (Associate Federation of Canadian Artists) signature status in 1997.
